CHITTAGONG

SALE NO. 42    24TH FEBRUARY  2009

CTC LEAF: 25,116 packages and 98 packages of old season were on offer. There was a better tone whereby good liquoring teas were a stronger market and other varieties also met with an improved demand. There were also less withdrawals.

BROKENS: A few clean liquoring teas on offer were strongly competed for and were generally firm to slightly dearer and these could be quoted between Tk.127/- and Tk.135/-. The remainder met with a better demand particularly medium and plain varieties which sold well at around last levels. However, a few cleaner teas appreciated in price.

FANNINGS: A small weight of good liquoring Fannings met with a strong demand and were fully firm and these sold between Tk.135/- and Tk.140/- . Medium and plain types met with quite a strong demand and were also fully firm. There were much less withdrawals.

CTC DUST: 5,283 packages on offer met with a fairly good demand generally at slightly easier rates. A few good liquoring types sold well at firm to slightly dearer rates. Plain and Medium types eased slightly but end of season types eased further with some withdrawals. Internal market lent quite a good support.

COMMENTS: There was again a sizeable quantity of end of season types but these met with a better demand. Good liquoring teas were in stronger demand from all sections of the market and a few lines appreciated in value in line with quality. Blenders operated in strength with more support from the Loose tea section of the market There was some buying on account of Pakistan.

Good liquoring Dusts were mostly dearer.
